Custom Slitting & Toll Processing

Coil slitting involves running flat rolled metal products through slitter heads composed of knives that cut and break metal into narrower widths. When coils reach the desired length, the coils are cut using shears. Coils are then carefully inspected for defects, recoiled and reworked to correct any incoming shape issues and defects using tension rolls on the slitter.

We specialize in custom processing & slitting of following metals:

  • Light to medium gauge (0.007 – 0.185 inches) 72-inch-wide Octagon slitter

VAP Steel continuously reinvests in equipment and preventative maintenance to ensure highest quality processing, with significantly reduced lead-times for customers. We have two steel slitters: a light to medium gauge (0.007 – 0.185 inches) 72-inch-wide Octagon slitter, and a heavy-gauge (0.054 – 0.300 inches) 60-inch-wide Yoder slitter.

Rockwell Hardness Testing: The Rockwell Test is an efficient and accurate hardness test method developed for quality control during production at VAP Steel. The test enables a fast and direct readout of the metal product hardness, which correlates directly with its strength, wear resistance, and other properties.
